SHORT EDITORIAL

Just because a car is small, compact and cheap, that doesn’t mean it has to be boring to look at. There are some really striking, good-looking superminis on the market at the moment in the United Kingdom, which have strong kerb appeal at a small price.

1. Audi A1

The current Audi range features strong styling but concerns were raised over how the new face of the brand would look on a smaller car. The A1 clearly proves that it does work. A couple of details that I really love are the aggressive side profile lines, the large, ballsy grille, pointed headlights and small rear wing.

2. Volkswagen Up

The VW Up is an odd looking car and splits opinion, but the square styling and edgy design really make it stand out. The updated version adds a new element of aggression to the design, which makes it look surprisingly sporty.

3. Toyota Aygo

The old Aygo visually fell flat, but Toyota has turned that around with the latest model. The ‘X’ styling at the front of the car is the main focal point, with the grille and diamond-shaped headlights creating a more mature looking car.

4. Renault Twingo

This supermini isn’t exactly “hot” in the sense of it looking edgy and cool. It’s a cute little car with some really nice, intricate details that help make it look so adorable. The rounded headlights and fog lights create a friendly looking car, while the amount of customisability is surprising.

5. Fiat 500

Like the Twingo, the Fiat 500 is a pretty, adorable little supermini that has loads of character. Inspired by the original version of the 500, it features lots of rounded edges, small chrome accents and gentle curves, which add to the overall attractiveness.
